Faster. With an Öresund Metro, an extra one million people will have a commuting distance within an hour across the Öresund. Travel time between Malmö and Copenhagen would be halved to around 20 minutes. Faster travel stimulates jobs, education, research, and tourism. A dynamic and growing Øresund region is good for all of Sweden and Denmark.

Greener. Subways are energy-efficient and climate-smart. When many commuters and tourists take the subway across the Øresund, railway space is freed up on the Øresund Bridge, which can be used for more freight and long-distance trains to Europe. Freight can be moved from trucks to trains, with benefits to the environment.

Smarter. The expanded metro systems of Malmö and Copenhagen will be connected, making it easy to travel further to other destinations on both sides of the strait. The Øresund Metro also connects the region's many universities and research facilities.
